What to do in Amsterdam: Jazz Night at Bimhuis

When speaking of communication, music is not likely going to pop into mind. There’s a saying that music is a universal language, and I think that is quite true.

Bimhuis is most well known as a jazz venue. Here, a jazz session is held every week where musicians come to perform from 22:00. However, the subject of the session is improvisation, these musicians have probably never practiced together and it is so impressive to see how they communicate and lead each other through the songs. There was no need for talking or looking at the other musicians, they communicated through the music and because it is not rehearsed, there is a sense of spontaneity and rawness to the music that they play. So if you liked what you read, definitely give these sessions a shot. The admission is free and it’s the perfect place to grab a drink, enjoy live music and hang out with friends on a Tuesday night.
