Immersion experience: that’s what the expositions at Fabrique de Lumières are all about! If you enjoy art, modern museums, and audiovisuals, this is certainly the right place to go. The museum was introduced in Paris, 2018, and opened in Amsterdam, 2022, at Westerpark. With the purpose of engaging the public, the digital art museum uses advanced technology to exhibit the art of famous artists around the world. They also count on a gift shop with a selection of art options related to the exhibitions taking place at the moment. The experience lasts around one hour and tickets cost 13 euros for students.

Salvador Dalí, a renowned Spanish artist, focused on surrealist art, capturing his dreams and hallucinations with unique vivid visuals. At the Fabrique of Lumières, his iconic works, such as “The Persistence of Memory”, the symbols of elephants and angels, the eroticism reflected through his painting, and the newspapers recognizing his high visibility in the 1930s, which were often paired with his fascist political views, are projected and interchangeably depicted with bold and intense colors and soundtracks.

From Barcelona to Amsterdam

Antoni Gaudí is the most famous architect in Barcelona, Spain, recognized for his modernist art, and one of his most famous creations, the church of the Sagrada Familia. During the exposition, his work is projected flowing from different creative designs of buildings throughout his career, having a magical effect with colors and songs to captivate all your senses simultaneously.

Recoding Entropia is located in a smaller room, concentrating on spaces and scale values, putting into perspective the endless potential in the human mind. Using the elements of surprise and confusion, the exhibition allows you to observe and interpret what you see as you desire.

Destination Cosmos, as the name implies, centralizes space. The exposition delves into the universe, galaxies, stars, the solar system, missions from the first astronomers to Apollo 11, and robots, provoking you to embark on the journey to space, where history, important figures, accomplishments, and satellite photographs are combined to create a cosmic encounter.

Visuals all around

Heading to the atmosphere and layout created at the Fabrique of Lumières, the area counts with images and visuals that are presented into the ceiling, all sides of the walls, and the floor. Thus, this tech innovation allows you to be in a space where everywhere around you is showing what you came to see, counting on low lighting to fully focus on the exhibition. You can choose to sit or lay down on the floor, as most people do, or stand and walk around. Texts are also included to explain the visuals, which are in Dutch or English, depending on the angle you are observing.

Technology and museums

For the art community and the general public, audiovisual components can make art more approachable and engaging for a wider audience, possibly attracting those who might not normally engage with art or commonly visit museums, because of the innovation efforts and the introduction of this type of exhibition.
